Jennifer Tyler received her Bachelor of Arts degree and graduated with Highest Distinction from the University of Iowa in 1981. She attended the University of Iowa College of Law and received her Juris Doctorate degree with Distinction in 1985. Jennifer’s additional academic honors include the following: member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society; member of the Phi Eta Sigma freshman honor society; Dean’s List, all four undergraduate years; Undergraduate Honors Certificate of Achievement.
Jennifer has 16 years of experience in the areas of government relations, association management, and public policy. Upon graduating from law school, she began her government relations career by serving as a staff assistant to United States Senator Charles Grassley. In addition to 11 years of experience in lobbying the Iowa Legislature and Executive Branch, Jennifer served as the Executive Director of two organizations: The Iowa Council of Health Care Centers, a nursing home trade association, and the Iowa Coalition for Responsible Franchising, a 550-member organization formed with the goal of improving the business climate in Iowa for franchise operations.
Jennifer has also practiced health care law and regulatory law in both private practice and corporate settings. She served as the Director of Government Relations for the Association of Iowa Hospitals and Health Systems and was employed as a government relations attorney for The Principal Financial Group.
Jennifer joined the Carney Law Firm lobbying team in 2000 and represents the Firm’s legislative clients before the Iowa Legislature, Executive Branch, and administrative agencies.
